Helvetica vs. Politics (2008)

A series of artwork featured in Envy magazine, a local fashion publication based in Klang Valley.

Motivated by the political tsunami in Malaysia’s 12th general elections 2008—which saw the ruling party losing almost half of the country’s votes, and substantial wins in several states for the opposition parties.

The series is a typographic interpretation on censorship in Malaysia. It is a take on the ruling party’s governing ways which are represented with the overlaying of words—the ‘censorship’ are darker in foreground and take precendence.
